• Adapted to sandy, chalky, or clayey soils in mesquite plains, cedar thickets, arroyos, on rocky hills, rimrock, and breaks.
• The Greek word “poly,” meaning “much,” and gala, meaning “milk,” refers to this plant taken in drink, which would increase the milk production in nursing women. The dried, powdered root is sold in pharmacies as “senega” or “senegin” and is used for various respiratory ailments.
• Of little value to wildlife and livestock.
